We are very proud and excited that GCH Suncoast Wil-Orion Anticipation “Carlee” is the Show Bitch AND Show Springer of the Year for 2013!
I was so lucky that Kathie Milne had taken me under her wing shortly before she, Janice Johnson and Erika Brookshire bred this beautiful bitch. Carlee was the first springer I had ever shown and it was a thrill for me to learn with her. More than one judge told me not to act so surprised when we won!! As a complete novice, I was able to put all of Carlee’s single points on her. Kathie did the hard part and showed her to both her majors. Carlee finished in style with a 5 point major at the Dallas/Ft.Worth supported entry.
Luck struck again when our friend Nancy Siver joined our partnership after seeing Carlee at the National in 2012. We decided to send her out with Meagan Ulfers for the remaining months of 2012 to test her potential. To our delight, she and Meagan became a beautiful team and finished the 2012 year as the Number 4 Springer Bitch.
But 2013 was our year!! Carlee has had four Group 1 wins, numerous group placements as well as a Best in Specialty. She and Meagan formed a bond and had so much fun campaigning together. We are very grateful to Meagan for her beautiful presentation of Carlee and for helping us surpass our goals.
This has been a team effort and I am thrilled to be part of this with Kathie Milne, Nancy Siver, Meagan Ulfers and of course, Carlee. We are “anticipating” more success in the whelping box.
2013 SHOW DOG OF THE YEAR
GCH CH OCOEE D SQD WITH A VENGEANCE
Ch. Sprucehaven Under Time RA NA NAJ NAP NJP WD ex Ch. Wil Orion Illusion
- George -

Bred by Melanie King, Corrine Johnson, Janice and Erica Johnson
Stats: 1,277 Breed Points

George was born in a litter of eleven black and white puppies, eight of them males. Melanie chose him from the litter as her puppy to keep. Their first weekend in the ring together brought him a major from the puppy class. Their next weekend brought back to back Best In Sweepstakes wins at the Chattahoochee Specialty shows. They were off and running! Mel finished George with Specialty majors at the Eastern, Michigan and Twin Cities Specialty shows.
George was shown on a very limited basis as a special in 2011 and 2012, winning and placing in some groups and winning a few Specialty Best of Breeds. Not campaigned nor advertised he was nonetheless in the Top Ten of both breed and all breed for both of those years. His serious career began the first show weekend of 2013 with three consecutive group placements including a first.
George was shown at a total of 85 dog shows in 2013, a number of them Specialty shows. To have him finish the year as number #1 English Springer Spaniel all systems, having been shown only half the amount of times as his closest competitors, and breeder-owner-handled, is a testament to his outstanding quality and the amazing bond he and Melanie have in the ring. Together they took on all competition and won Best in Shows, many Groups, Specialties, and both the National Specialty and the Top Twenty. It was a fairy tale year for us all. George is now being shown only at Specialties and special events. He and Mel will continue to be together in the ring on those occasions as long as they both have fun and love what they are doing.

Stats: 9 Champions

George’s award as Sire of the Year came as a very pleasant surprise to us all. He was not bred until he was three years old, and then to only a small handful of bitches, so having him named Sire of the Year for the year in which he turned five is a wonderful and exciting accomplishment!
He had nine Champion finish in 2013 without any plan or anyone trying to make it happen. He is the sire of the 2012 National Best In Sweepstakes winner (who was his first CH offspring) and many others with Specialty Best in Sweeps and specialty major wins.
He has a number of children just a few points from finishing and a lovely new crop of youngsters just beginning what we hope will be exciting careers. We are very proud of George’s ability to produce typey, sound, correct spaniels with outstanding temperaments and health and we are excited to watch all his offspring in the future.

CH TELLTALE DO THE DEW

Stats: 7 Champions

Ernie (named for Dale Earnhardt Jr., Celie's favorite NASCAR celebrity) is sired by CH Telltale Salute and is out of CH Telltale Fair Voyage. Very early in his growing up, Ernie's potential was a spark in the eye of Delores, Celie, and Robin. His campaign to his championship was a short one, with wins under some of the greats---Michelle Leathers Billings, Michael Faulkner, Betty-Anne Stenmark, Carol Callahan, Ron Menaker, Dorothy Macdonald, and others, and he finished at Eastern with a 5 pt major and Best of Winners under Debra Davis.
To date, Ernie has 12 champion children, and counting. Ernie's contribution to the breed has been impressive, as some of his children are:
--CH Telltale In Dew Time
--CH Telltale Brightwater Time To Dew It
--CH Telltale Darlington
--CH Telltale Just Dew It
--CH Telltale American Idol
--GCH Wynmoor Sweetgrass White Diamonds. "Liz" is, at this writing, the #1 Springer Bitch in the breed and in all-breed points.
--and of course, our "Randy"-- Multi Best in Specialty and Multi Best in Show GCH Telltale American Ride.
Randy is the #1 English Springer in the USA, and #4 Sporting Dog.
Ernie's potential is still developing as he continues to sire lovely, sound and typy puppies.
