2011 AGILITY SPRINGER OF THE YEAR:
MACH5 CEDARWOODS CHAOTIC CRESCENDO MXF
Chaos
Owned by Jan Baker & Jackie Alschuler

This is the second year in a row that Chaos has been awarded ESSFTA Agility English Springer Spaniel of the year. We are very honored to receive this award and thank the ESSFTA for the recognition.

Chaos and I competed at the AKC Agility Nationals in Lexington, Virginia in March 2011. She earned her MACH4 in her home state of Minnesota in April 2011. She followed up with her MACH5 in Fargo, North Dakota in October 2011. We were proud to be one of the top five Springers competing at the AKC Agility Invitational in Orlando, Florida in December 2011.

Chaos is an amazingly consistent teammate. She loves agility and particularly loves her jackpot of roast beef at the end of a run.

2011 EXCELLENT AGILITY SPRINGER:
Rose
Owned by Karen Schelling

It was a great surprise and honor to learn that Rose has been selected as ESSFTA's Excellent Agility Springer of the Year. Rose is a bright, precocious two-year old who has recently earned her MACH. She is a very exciting to dog both to handle and to watch. Her enthusiasm for the game results in hard driving, past paced runs during which I struggle to deliver the cues in a timely fashion. She has excellent distance skills and obstacle independence, both of which are necessary at her speed. She is a joy to work with and is much loved. I am indebted to my breeder, Allison Miele, of Aubrey Springers, who, once again, selected just the right dog for me, and to the ESSFTA for acknowledging my Rose.

2011 OPEN AGILITY SPRINGER:
CH POLESITTER'S TALLADEGA CD BN RN OA OAJ
Tally
Owned by Pamela Brezger & Michael Bockhorn & Laurie Green & Mary P Osbun

It is such an honor to have earned the ESSFTA Open Agility Springer of the Year for 2011!
Tally completed her Open Agility titles by placing in all 6 of her runs. Her OA title was completed with two 1st places and one 4th place. Her OAJ title was completed with two 1st places and one 2nd place.

Tally has always had a willingness to learn and a fearless attitude, which makes her so much fun to train and run in agility! Whether she is flying over the jumps, working the weave poles, or barreling out of a tunnel, running along side of her is exhilarating! When she’s on the course, she always runs full speed ahead and you can tell she loves to play the game. Outside of the ring, Tally is a very sweet and loving little girl, who loves to sneak into your lap and give you a kiss. She is very content snuggling next to you for hours, but she is always ready to go when it’s time to run and play!

A very special thank-you to breeder/co-owner & friend, Mike Bockhorn, for sharing this extraordinary little girl with me (and for sitting with me at agility trials helping the hours fly by!) Another big thanks goes to Kim Berkley, trainer & friend, for always seeing the potential in Tally (and myself) and encouraging us to be the best we can be in the ring. Also, a thank-you goes to Tally’s other co-owners Mary Osbun & Laurie Green for their continued support and kind words about Tally and her accomplishments.

2011 NOVICE AGILITY SPRINGER:
NOBLE 'N ESQUIRE’S FOLLOW YOUR DREAM RAE NA NAJ OF
Darcie
Owned by Donna Ewing & Windle Ewing

CH MACH2 Wedgwood’s Follow The Leader OF x CH Esquire’s Dare to Dream
Darcie is an over-the-top free spirit who does everything in life with joy and gusto. She is also the spitting image of her dad, Simon (CH MACH2 Wedgwood’s Follow The Leader OF). Simon was recognized for the same award in 2004, so to receive this award again with one of his “kids” is quite an honor for us. Like father, like daughter.

Darcie enjoys a variety of activities, and she is happiest when working to please us. She breezed to her RAE title – from Novice A – at the same time she was earning perfect scores in Novice agility. Darcie is easy to live with, and she is such a fun Springer to train. She always has a happy disposition, and she makes us smile every day.
We are very proud of our Darcie!

2011 PREFERRED AGILITY SPRINGER OF THE YEAR:
CH SERENITY'S TATYANA CDX RE MX MXJ MXP3 MJP3 OF XFP
Tanya
Owned by Barbara Webster

Tanya was an unexpected gift to me. When my first Springer died in 2002, I was heartbroken. A good friend, Jerry Kempher, found Tanya in Lancaster, PA and I took her home at three months. She is my first agility dog and first dog I ever trained.

As a puppy, she had many challenges to overcome. Competition rings terrified her, but she endured through conformation and obedience titles. She almost died of pyometra at 4, and a year passed before she was running again. When we started agility she would run from the ring. She earned her MX and MXJ slowly. We moved down to preferred and, to my amazement, she became a changed dog. We tore through her other titles, and looked like she was enjoying the fun.

Tanya’s real love is the woods where she chases birds and small animals. When I say we are going for a walk, up goes the tail wagging a thousand times a minute, as she bolts out of the house. She is a natural bird dog.

Tanya’s perseverance in an activity about which she has concerns is an inspiration to me. Through her illnesses and struggles, she and I have formed deep bonds. We both have come so far from the days when she was a tiny puppy hiding under the bed.

Today, she at ten and I at 77, get tremendous joy from our teamwork in the ring. Tanya is now recovering from TPLO surgery but the vet says she should be good to earn her last five double Qs for the PAX. Go for it, Tanya and thank you, ESSFTA, for the award.
